I have FINALLY found time to post this!
So, after much fear of failure this past week I stepped on the scale yesterday and found that I had...
Lost 1.5 pounds!
Yeah! I'm back on track
Weight: 188.5
Chest: 40
Waist: 34
Hips: 44
I didn't lose anything in inches, but the weight is going in the right direction so I can't feel all that bad.
OK. I'm not getting much free time for blogging even now, so I'm signing off.

PMP- Boston 2008
So my one and only business trip with Tribune was to Boston.
I'd been to Boston only once before for Thanksgiving with my awesome Aunt and Uncle and cousins. I was like 13 and all I remember was getting sick and Faneuil Hall.
This time, I spent a week out in the suburbs earning certification on our tracking software. It was amazing and so much fun. I caught up with my Awesome Aunt A, and took the T into the city to walk around Boston Common and then out to Faneuil Hall and through interesting side streets.
It was a lot of fun, even WITH the microburst that I experienced while trying to take the walking tour through the park.

There were quite a few people there for training and a few of us got together for dinner quite often after class. It was fun to relax a little after and to, as evidenced by this picture, try new foods. I'd never had oysters before, but it was an experience and quite tasty.
I'm still trying to convince DH to go back there with me.

Weight Loss - Week 6
Ok, so I still suck at this. I've been home from vacation long enough to have gotten back into my routine.
Yet, still I am struggling. I only missed two days on my walk this week which is a huge improvement and I even walked the mall one morning so I went REALLY fast on those super smooth waxed floors with no obstacles.
There was only minor improvement overall. I'm happy it's in the right direction although it could have been a bit more. I mean, come on! Half a pound!? That's hardly fair considering how much better I did with my food intake.
Weight: 190
Chest: 40
Waist: 34
Hips: 44
So, as summer starts to wind down and cooler winds arrive, I'm looking for a new winter activity that can keep my heart rate up and won't require me to freeze my butt off during a Chicago winter. I'm considering swimming even though my strokes are a little unpolished. Any thoughts, suggestions? Do you have a favorite activity/class that could be a good alternative to walking?

PMP - Holding Miss M
My brother DM had the first grandchild, Miss M. This was on her blessing day in December? I think.
It was really neat to hold her and see my brother act like a nervous first time Dad. That's when I truly realized how awesomely calm my SIL KM is.

Also, I had convinced DH to grow his hair out a little bit longer than he had it. I look back now and giggle a little, because while it certainly was a bit more relaxed, it's so totally not him. At all. He's quit listening to me when I suggest hair styles now and I have to say, it's for the best.
I got to see Miss M a few weeks after that when I drove with a friend to Seattle. She was moving back home and needed a driving buddy. It was an awesome road trip and I got to see Seattle for the first time. On our way, we stopped at DM and KM's for the night to make things a little easier. It's super early on the day we're leaving and so my make-up is smudgy and I have my jammies on, but Miss M is so cute, I can hardly stand it.

Trip To Utah - Cousins
The last time Baby Girl saw her cousin WF, she was five weeks old.
WF now had a brother LF and a sister EF.
Athough WF is almost a full year older than Baby Girl, they got on really well. It was so nice for her to have a playmate there almost 24/7. There were almost no disagreements and lots of giggles.

Here, Baby Girl and WF are watching a show. Baby Girl loves her dresses and princess hair so there you have it. She's on vacation and dressed to the nines.

I realize this may seem like a recurring theme, but honestly, it's the only time any of them will sit still long enough to take a semi-focused photo. Seriously.

Bumbo
Baby Boy has a goofy looking noggin.
After spending the first week of his life in the NICU (on his back) and then my completely irrationaly and mildly manic inability to not leave him be every time he made a noise, he now has a flatish head. I am told every time we go in that he needs to up his tummy time and stay off his back, even in my arms.
That's a tall order for a mildly depressed, panicked mom of a 3 year old "helper" and a newborn.
So, I was talking with my awesome friend DB who had flat headed issues with her son as well, and she mentioned her Bumbo and how awesome it was in allowing him one more avenue to avoid laying on his back, while not forcing him onto his tummy all the time.
I found a new to us Bumbo on craigslist and here he is in his inagural sitting.

I'd say it's a yes.

Uuuuuuugggghhhh! - Week 5
This is the point where I usually give up.
I was absolutely NOT on top of my game this week. I hardly tracked my food (meaning I purposefully ate too much of things and then conveniently forgot to mark it down until later when I couldn't quite remember just how much I had of something...) and I only went walking twice this week and both mornings were SLLLLOOOOOOOWWWW. I was seriously dragging tail the entire week.
SO! What does this mean for stats? See below.
Weight: 190.5
Chest: 40.5
Waist: 34.5
Hips: 44.5
Yep, pretty much a gain across the board. So awesome. BUT! I will not give up. Mostly at this point because it will look bad to blog about my amazing lack of will power for the next decade.
I'm going to start walking again and start tracking my food better. I've made treats and things this past week, but there aren't many left and hopefully, I'll have the will power and positive thoughts to withstand temptation.
We did really great about not eating out this week, so one week down and three to go. Woo Hoo! I have to say though, that I suck at cooking right now. I tried pie crust today and three attempts later, I was making apple crisp. I tried roasting a chicken two nights ago and ended up serving raw chicken instead - we had grilled cheese after that.
Alright, so as a wrap up, I failed fantastically this last week at exercise and watching my food intake. I have realized that cooking, like any other talent, disappears with disuse, and that lifestyle changes are hard and no fun in the beginning.
Yep. Ugh.

PMP - Gallup, NM
Ok, Mom, you're going to need to help verify my memories a bit with this one.
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, we lived in Gallup, New Mexico...
We lived in two different houses, one with dark brown wooden walls and I remember always dropping my My Little Pony dolls between the bed?couch? and the wall. I remember having the chest of drawers fall on me at the second house and that there was a mountain in our backyard and we had rocks, not grass. I also remember a mildly terrifying dog, I think?
Anyway, I think both pictures were taken at the second house.

Here I am in my swimming suit. I remember thinking that I should be in this everyday and it was frustrating to wear clothes. Hmmm, that reminds me of someone... Oh yes, Baby Girl, who wore her ballerina swimming suit ALL day yesterday (including to the post office) and pretty much removes any article of clothing I try to put her in.

Here's me and my older brother DM dancing around our front room. We are really close in age so things like this weren't really uncommon for us. We were each other's best playmate (and sometimes worst enemy).
And oh look, my legs are still not as tan as my arms...
