I have FINALLY found time to post this!
So, after much fear of failure this past week I stepped on the scale yesterday and found that I had...
Lost 1.5 pounds!
Yeah! I'm back on track
Weight: 188.5
Chest: 40
Waist: 34
Hips: 44
I didn't lose anything in inches, but the weight is going in the right direction so I can't feel all that bad.
OK. I'm not getting much free time for blogging even now, so I'm signing off.

Weight Loss - Week 6
Ok, so I still suck at this. I've been home from vacation long enough to have gotten back into my routine.
Yet, still I am struggling. I only missed two days on my walk this week which is a huge improvement and I even walked the mall one morning so I went REALLY fast on those super smooth waxed floors with no obstacles.
There was only minor improvement overall. I'm happy it's in the right direction although it could have been a bit more. I mean, come on! Half a pound!? That's hardly fair considering how much better I did with my food intake.
Weight: 190
Chest: 40
Waist: 34
Hips: 44
So, as summer starts to wind down and cooler winds arrive, I'm looking for a new winter activity that can keep my heart rate up and won't require me to freeze my butt off during a Chicago winter. I'm considering swimming even though my strokes are a little unpolished. Any thoughts, suggestions? Do you have a favorite activity/class that could be a good alternative to walking?

Uuuuuuugggghhhh! - Week 5
This is the point where I usually give up.
I was absolutely NOT on top of my game this week. I hardly tracked my food (meaning I purposefully ate too much of things and then conveniently forgot to mark it down until later when I couldn't quite remember just how much I had of something...) and I only went walking twice this week and both mornings were SLLLLOOOOOOOWWWW. I was seriously dragging tail the entire week.
SO! What does this mean for stats? See below.
Weight: 190.5
Chest: 40.5
Waist: 34.5
Hips: 44.5
Yep, pretty much a gain across the board. So awesome. BUT! I will not give up. Mostly at this point because it will look bad to blog about my amazing lack of will power for the next decade.
I'm going to start walking again and start tracking my food better. I've made treats and things this past week, but there aren't many left and hopefully, I'll have the will power and positive thoughts to withstand temptation.
We did really great about not eating out this week, so one week down and three to go. Woo Hoo! I have to say though, that I suck at cooking right now. I tried pie crust today and three attempts later, I was making apple crisp. I tried roasting a chicken two nights ago and ended up serving raw chicken instead - we had grilled cheese after that.
Alright, so as a wrap up, I failed fantastically this last week at exercise and watching my food intake. I have realized that cooking, like any other talent, disappears with disuse, and that lifestyle changes are hard and no fun in the beginning.
Yep. Ugh.

Overweight: Week 4
Ah, vacation. How I both love and despise you.
I've posted my stats below and I have to say, while I'm disappointed with the step back, I'm grateful it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I think our entire trip was centered around food. Lots of food. We went to Winger's twice (DH's favorite restaurant), JCW's, Del Taco, had super rich Italian food from DH's brother AF, and others that I'm spacing out on.
I was able to walk just about everyday and I went 3.3 miles at 4 miles an hour plus DH and I went swimming both with Baby Girl and by ourselves and walked up to Bridal Veil Falls one day. So even with all this potential calorie burning activity I still gained two pounds and a few inches meaning I totally ate like three weeks worth of calories in a one week period...
Stats:
Weight: 190.0
Chest: 42
Waist: 34.25
Hips: 44.5
I'm not really sure how I gained inches in my chest so I'm going to assume that has to do with user error.
Incidently, DH and I have decided that August is our month of no eating out. I'll admit that during my last trimester with Baby Boy I sort of phoned in life and that included mealtimes and then the delivery was hard and I still had no motivation and then I'm pretty sure I had borderline PPD, which meant more eating out.
Now that we are all past that wonderful 6ish month period, August is going to be our restart to all things normal and we will be getting back to food preparation! Yay!!!

Overweight: Week 3
I'm posting this a day early.
We left for Utah today at 6:00am so I decided to weigh and measure myself this morning instead of tomorrow at a new place with a different scale. Mostly because I'm paranoid that my scale weighs on the light side and I think I'd cry if someone else's scale made me heavier. (Not that a scale is what makes me heavier or whatever.)
Now, on to the stats:
Weight: 188
Chest: 40
Waist: 33.5
Hips:44
SO! One pound lost and half an inch off my waist. Not too shabby considering the half a box of munchkins I had for breakfast yesterday... I'm mildly disappointed but mostly in my lack of willpower against all things pastry rather than my stats.
Now I just need to make sure I don't over eat while out here on vacation for the next week. (Right. That'll be easy since most of our plans revolve around food and eating and such.)
Wish me luck this week!

Overweight: Week 2
Another week, another two pounds.
I'm always nervous on Sunday mornings now because I don't look at a scale or measuring tape the entire week so I'm never really sure just how well I'm doing until it's time to report.
But, today is a good day and I have successfully met my goals.
When I decided to start blogging about my weight, I realized that I needed to start some form of exercise along with watching what I ate. So I picked walking. I found a nice walking path by my house and have strapped the kids in the double stroller every morning for a 1-3 mile walk.
After two weeks of that, Baby Girl has informed me that she doesn't like walks and generally hates the double stroller.
Awesome. Now what? Any suggestions?
Stats:
Weight: 189
Chest: 40
Waist: 34

Well, that was easy!
Oh Look! 191 pounds! BMI of 29!! I'm no longer Obese!!
I'm just dangerously overweight. But let's not focus on that. Let's focus on the fact that I have some great momentum right now and that I lost 4.5 pounds!! Here are my stats:
Chest: 41
Waist: 35
Hips: 45
Now, before you geek out about my amazing loss of inches. I should probably say that I posted the wrong stats last week.
Yep. I've been tracking my inches for a while in an excel spreadsheet like the closet nerd that I am and I posted numbers that were from earlier this year. That's not to say that the numbers are that much better, but some. So check back at my previous post if you're interested to see the actual differences.
I've made some realizations this week as well. I've realized that I am an emotional eater to the max and that I have almost no will power against cake and cookies. Yep. Some people can't turn down chocolate or sweets. For me it's cake and cookies. The more decadent the better.
I've also realized that I snack mindlessly pretty much all day. I've been tracking my food intake and exercise minutes via SparkPeople and that has really helped. If you're interested in exactly what I ate/did this past week you can see my public profile where I am sharing everything that I track for another level of transparency and accountability.
Anyway, wish me luck this week in losing another couple pounds and a few more inches and if you are so inclined, join me on sparkpeople and be my "friend" we can do this together.

OBESE class 1
I weigh 195.5 pounds.
Yes, really. I haven't seen some of you in a while so it may come as a surprise...or not.
Here is a picture taken of me at Daphne's birthday party last Friday.
To be honest, I'm nervous and embarassed and a tiny bit humiliated about this post. I'm not much of a finisher. I have boxes of unfinished projects and I've started to lose weight more times than I care to admit.
I've decided that maybe a dose of humiliation and brutal honesty is what I need to finally be accountable for my actions. It sucks, but at the same time I'm hopeful of the outcome.
Now, the title is correct. I checked my BMI last night and I am technically obese. I gained weight when I was pregnant with Baby Boy and his delivery was much harder than Baby Girl's which translates to slower movements and at least 10 pounds that I have yet to lose 4 months later.
So back to the humiliating part. I'm going to blog my weight loss every Sunday. This scares me because I suck at posting updates, and I suck at losing weight.
I'm not saying this because I'm fishing for complements or affirmation that I'm a good person or whatever. I'm doing this because I don't want to be obese when I enter my thirties next may.
So - Here are my stats:
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 195.5
Chest: 41"
Waist: 36"
Hips: 46"
Wish me luck!!
