I Couldn't Do It...

I couldn't. I tried to make the hippie skirt/dress thing work.

I put on the skirt Sunday morning and I almost cried. The hippie shoes I bought weren't quite right and didn't hide the foot chubbiness, the skirt was this faded-screen printed mess and it didn't look right with the shirts that I had available.

I couldn't really sleep anyway, so I was up early. I take off my hippie clothes and I pull out my sewing machine. I had some fabric and a pattern and I proceeded to make myself as non-hippie of a maxi dress as I could.

I knew it would be a challenge and I had to be at church by 12:30 so I couldn't afford to make any mistakes.

3.5 hours later - I had a jersey knit, pseudo-maternity maxi dress. It was made of this yummy chocolate brown.

The only problem...? DH said I looked like a franciscan monk, and a pregnant one at that! (Try explaining that to the holy father)

Oh well, at least I wasn't a hippie!

I wore several Maxi dresses during my last pregnancy.

I am sure I always looked awful.

Now (like you said) they make great skirts :)

I am sure you looked beautiful. The end is coming soooooo soon!!

Love you.

I don't know what he was talking about. I loved the dress and thought you looked awesome. You still have me in awe that you made it before church. You seriously are freaking amazing!

I bet you looked great to be honest, and boy how I know you can sew! And back to the diaper bag comment.. come look at all my designer bags that get the collect dust up in the closet. You know what I am going to do buy a big over-sized purse that I'm dying for, and a diapee & wipe holder/changing pad. such a good idea for you too!

You are going to make it. Don't worry that last 2 months are always that worst because you get to that point that even your maternity things don't fit you. It is depressing but i know that you are going to make it, (even if you have to wear the same 2 outfits over and over again) :)

What are you talking about??? YOU looked great! I definitely liked it better than the hippie dress and I am amazed that you made it so quickly and it looked so perfect!

ok, first - i am so super impressed that you were sewing something to wear the same day!!! i made a pair of stretch pants once (in the 80's when they were hip), with grandma ferguson's help... and even though she was amazing on the machine, my measurement skills were not and somehow the legs were shorter than the rise and if i pulled them up all the way i had a strapless cat suit out of bright marine blue ribbed cotton, that went all the way to me knees... the overall pants were the right lungth, but the proportions were way off... and the saddest part? i wore them anyway, with pride!!! lol! ps: bet you looked gorgeous in chocolate jersey!!! again, i am in awe!!!
